Washington Redskins Owner Daniel Snyder

Not every fan completely approves of the choices that players and coaches make. Oddly enough, only those avid fans rely on what owners do or say. However, there always has to be a bad guy when it comes to loss In the case of the Washington DC Redskins, owner Daniel Snyder received a lot of political backlash through the years.. Since Snyder’s acquisition of the Washington Redskins, the team has gone through seven head coaches, and a variety of team player roster lists.  With a weakening economy, ticket prices climbed, and the recession became in full affect. Fans found difficulty to stay loyal, and audience attendance was low.  After acquiring the team and the stadium in 1999, Snyder has been the brunt of many sports conversations.

In February 2011, the Washington City Paper’s sports writer Dave McKenna wrote an article titled The Cranky Redskin’s Fan Guide to Dan Snyder. This article goes at great length to document all of Snyder’s previous business and sports errors. After reading this, other writers and fans came out in support of McKenna, while Snyder wanted asked for the dismissal of McKenna. In early September, Snyder officially dropped the lawsuit against the Washington City Paper and sports writer Dave McKenna.

With every losing season comes a pointed finger. Whether at the team, the head coach, or the redskins owner himself, someone always blames another. However, with a veteran like Snyder holding down the base fort, it’s easy to see the Redskins’ time is approaching. Talented coaches, higher draft picks, a high technologically advanced stadium, and a strong fan base, the NFL Washington Redskins have proven their lasting power. Under the advisement of Snyder, the Redskins opened up their own retail branches, which have seen repeated success in the numbers. These retail stores serve as bringing awareness to the team, and letting fans express their loyalty by owning the fan merchandise.
